“Nuevo Tango” A concert for saxophone and piano

Christos Z1643nuevo tangoenios (saxophone) and Marianna Georgiou (piano) invite you to a recital dedicated to Nuevo Tango, with works by Astor Piazzolla and Trevor Hold, at Technopolis 20 in Paphos, on Tuesday, 3rd of April 2018 at 8pm.

Nuevo Tango is a new form of tango, that begun to develop in the 1980s and has to do with the incorporation of new elements such as jazz, into traditional tango music. The recital will include famous tunes by PIazzolla, such as Oblivion, Fracanapa, Street Tango and Invierno Porteno and a piece by Trevor Hold that combines the essence of both the Tango and the Charleston dances to create a superb, entertaining two movement work for Alto Saxophone and Piano. The programme will conclude with the famous Histoire du Tango for Soprano Saxophone and piano.

The concert will also be presented in Nicosia, at the Windcraft Music Centre on the 13th of April.

Celebrating the International Jazz Day with Giorgos Krasidis – Giorgos Morphitis

1429jazzdayLong-time friends and collaborators, the saxophonist Giorgos Krasidis and the pianist Giorgos Morphitis are celebrating the International Jazz Day with a concert not to be missed, at Technopolis 20 in Paphos, on Saturday, 28th of April 2018 at 8pm.

Krasidis and Morphitis are among the most potent and influential jazz instrumentalists in the island of Cyprus. Enjoy the creativity of the two jazz masters in an explosive performance.


Tribute to four hand classics for piano

3584handsMarianna Georgiou and Maria Avraam invite you to a piano concert, tribute to four hand classics at Technopolis 20, on Wednesday, 25th of April 2018, at 8pm. The programme will include works by Mozart, Debussy, F. Schubert, Brahms and Astor Piazzolla.

TratSik String Quartet Project A different approach to the traditional music of Cyprus
388tratsik poster1“TratSik String Quartet”, an exciting new chamber music project, will de debuting new music influenced and inspired by the traditional music idiom of Cyprus, at Technopolis 20, on Sunday, 15th of April 2018, at 8pm.
 This unique, extraordinary project involves four young, talented composers, who were commissioned to compose new pieces for the four players of the string quartet, on the basis of using and maintaining almost unaltered the folk-oriented nature of the melodic material of the Cypriot songs and dances, from which they were inspired, such as ‘Psintri Vasilitzia mou’, ‘O Dasonomos’, ‘I Stamna’, ‘O Voskos’ etc. However, they were asked to feel free to explore and combine the charming simplicity of tradition with modern vocabulary, experimental extended performance techniques and the dynamic characteristics of the string quartet, in order to give to the music an individual, distinctive character and a personal aesthetic. 


“Voices of the Poets” An evening of Greek Music

509voices of the poetsAn evening dedicated to poetry set to music, a musical tribute to the great poets, starting from the classics Papadiamantis and Elytis to the more contemporary Gatsos and M. Eleftheriou, whose words were amalgamated with melodies producing songs that are now weaved into the Greek cultural heritage. Through their own orchestrations and renditions, Maria Avraam (flute), Pantelitsa Socratous (piano) and Georgia Zachariade (voice) present a journey through the familiar melodies of Greek music at Technopolis 20, on Friday, 13th of April 2018, at 8pm.

A music night with ‘Τhe Crew’

1604the crew 2The music trio ‘The Crew’, already counting 2 years since their premiere, they keep presenting different approaches on well-known music pieces. Featuring Alexandros Tsangarides on piano and vocals, Christodoulos Dimitriou on double bass and Alex Sofokleous on percussion, the trio will present cover songs with a jazz-swing attitude, influenced by the decades of the fifties until today, on Wednesday, 28th of March 2018, at 8pm.

Bach Birthday Festival: Meeting Bach

Musicians performing are Natalia Lezedova, Tatiana Stupak, Nina Ioannidou (piano), Robert Grod (cello), Maria Avraam (flute), Andreas Constantinou (violin) and Hristo Ovcharov (double bass).
