The Cyprus property market has surged ahead in 2017, finally shaking off the legacy of the financial crisis that decimated it between the years 2013 -2016.
According to Land Registry statistics, the number of building permits for new homes continues to rise and most importantly, the value of these projects has also increased, signalling a lot more confidence in the construction sector. Indeed, the construction sector is a valued and important contributor to the Cyprus economy, local employment and foreign investment.
This exceeds last year’s figures which were also record-breaking.
Hotels in Paphos say they are experiencing the busiest tourist season ever, and for the first six months of the year, visitor numbers have broken all previous records.
Cystat, the Cyprus Statistical Service announced on their website that for the period of January–June 2017, arrivals totalled 1,463,206 compared to 1,255,240 in the corresponding period of 2016, recording an increase of 16.6 per cent.
