Economy growthCyprus’s economy expanded 2.9 per cent year-on-year in the second quarter and a seasonally adjusted 2.7 per cent, the statistical service said citing revised figures which confirmed an August 12 flash estimate.

The Cypriot economy grew 0.7 per cent in the second quarter compared to the previous three-month period, Cystat said in a statement on its website on Thursday.
In January to March, the economy grew an annual 2.6 per cent and a quarterly 1 per cent, according to Cystat.

Tourist arrivals increased by 16.7% in September compared to the same month last, making 2016’s September the best ever recorded.

On the basis of the results of the Passenger Survey, arrivals of tourists reached 421,201 in September 2016 compared to 360,899 in September 2015, recording an increase of 16.7%. September 2016 had the highest volume of tourist arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the specific month.
